On June 10, the Seminar on Building an Overseas “Shanghai Paradigm” for Schools of Excellent Engineers and the Launch Ceremony of the Donghua University × Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Industry-University-Research Integrated Innovation Platform were held in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. The event was hosted by the International Education Center and the National Graduate School of Excellent Engineers of Donghua University, in collaboration with the Shanghai Pudong New Area Comprehensive Service Center for Enterprises Going Global, and co-organized by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce of Scotland, UK. Vice President Chen Ge attended and addressed the event. Representatives from the education and industry sectors of China and the UK gathered to discuss pathways for cultivating international excellent engineers and explore new models of cross-border industry-university-research collaboration.
In his address, Chen Ge noted that industrial development in both China and the UK urgently requires internationally-oriented excellent engineering talent. The university has introduced an order-based plus project-based training model, adopting a “1+1+1” segmented learning approach and a “dual-mentor + one student, one plan” training mechanism, and made clear its commitment to expanding its cooperation network, co-developing international courses, and strengthening policy coordination.
During the keynote report session, representatives from various parties respectively introduced talent cultivation plans, cross-border support policies, and Glasgow‘s industrial advantages. In the university-enterprise matchmaking flash roadshow session, 12 Chinese and British institutions conducted project roadshows covering fields such as medical technology, intelligent equipment, new energy, and artificial intelligence. Guests engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics including engineering education accreditation, the development of overseas practical training bases, and cross-border technical cooperation.
