On Dec. 8, 2018, a total of 35 textile-related universities from 18 countries formally established the World Textile University Alliance.

The World Textile University Alliance (WTUA) is a network of respectable textile-related universities around the world.
The Alliance shall strengthen higher education, textile industry and fashion design and technology-related exchanges and mutual learning among all countries and particularly along the Belt and Road.
The Alliance aims to strengthen academic and scientific collaboration, underpin international collaboration and development of the textile industry, and cultivate special talents.
