TRIBO Shanghai – The International Symposium on Advanced Tribology and Materials Held at DHU

2026-04-30

From April 24 to 26, TRIBO Shanghai 2026 – The International Symposium on Advanced Tribology and Materials was held at Donghua University. Centered on the theme "Interdisciplinary Integration, Frontier Technology Breakthroughs, and Building a Global Tribology Community," the symposium was jointly organized by Donghua University and the Tribology Committee of the Shanghai Society of Mechanical Engineering, and hosted by the College of Mechanical Engineering and the Engineering Research Center of Advanced Textile Machinery, Ministry of Education. Professor Sun Yize, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor Wang Jing, both from the College of Mechanical Engineering, delivered remarks respectively. Nearly 100 participants from 10 countries and regions attended, including academic researchers in tribology, industry scientists, and representatives from instrumentation, lubricant, and additive companies, as well as graduate students. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Wang Xinhou, Party Secretary of the College of Mechanical Engineering.

Professor Sun Yize, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, extended a welcome on behalf of Donghua University to experts, scholars, and industry leaders from China and abroad. He noted that global high-end equipment manufacturing is moving toward high quality, intelligentization, and green development, and that the upgrading of fields such as new energy vehicles, aero engines, wind power, and textile machinery cannot be achieved without the deep integration of tribology, materials, and textile disciplines. Donghua University has long been dedicated to textile materials and advanced manufacturing, while its mechanical engineering discipline focuses on the frontiers of industrial tribology, promotes interdisciplinary integration, and develops research directions with Donghua characteristics. This symposium not only showcases cutting-edge achievements from around the world, but also serves as an important bridge for industry-academia-research collaboration and academic exchange between China and other countries.

The main venue of the symposium featured six keynote lectures and eighteen invited lectures, and a Young Tribologists Forum and a poster competition were held in parallel. Participants conducted in-depth exchanges and active discussions across more than a dozen fields, including wind power; new energy vehicles and automotive vehicles and components; internal combustion engines and engines; refrigeration compressors; bearings and general mechanical components; greases, lubricating oils, and additives; surface coatings, micro-texturing, and friction modification; composite materials and textile equipment; sealing and equipment system dynamics; aerospace, the nuclear industry, and high-end equipment; medical tribology; and numerical simulation and algorithm research, showcasing their latest research progress and developments in tribology and materials.
