On April 25, the Huafeng Fashion • 2026 China Aesthetics Fashion Development Conference was held in Changning District, Shanghai. Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai; Hung Hsiu-chu, former Chairperson of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) and Chairperson of the China Qingyan Peace Education Foundation; and Zhao Shitong, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Liu Shuhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Donghua University, was invited to attend the conference and jointly inaugurated the 'Huafeng Together • 2026 Cross-Strait Youth Chinese Culture Exchange Season'.

At the conference, more than 50 faculty members and students from the College of Fashion and Art Design participated in and presented the Huafeng Fashion Runway Show. Structured around three thematic chapters: "Rhythm of China-Chic," "New Shanghai Style," and "Huafeng Future", the show delivered a benchmark fashion extravaganza that combined profound cultural heritage, top-tier artistic excellence, and distinct industry foresight. Liu Chunhong, a professor at our university and President of the Shanghai Garment Association, and Bian Xiangyang, Director of the Shanghai Fashion Capital Promotion Center, delivered keynote speeches on "Trends in the Development of Chinese Aesthetics and Fashion" and "Building a New Fashion Ecosystem for the New Era to Advance the Construction of Shanghai as a Fashion Capital", respectively.

This conference was jointly organized by the Cross-Strait Exchange Center, the Shanghai Cross-Strait Exchange Promotion Association, the Shanghai Cultural and Creative Industries Promotion Association, the Shanghai Changning Overseas Friendship Association, and Donghua University. Centered on the theme of Huafeng Fashion and serving as a platform for cross-strait cultural exchange, the conference aims to foster in-depth exchanges between young people from across the strait in various industries such as fashion design and cultural creativity, while striving to build fashion brands that embody the essence of Chinese aesthetics and demonstrate Chinese aesthetic style.
It is known that over the years, our university has leveraged its comprehensive disciplinary innovation strengths in areas such as "fashion + technology" and "design + technology" to deepen industry-academia-research collaboration and promote the organic integration and creative transformation of outstanding traditional culture and modern fashion design. By aggregating innovation elements, cultivating design talent, conducting forward-looking research, strengthening think tank development, and accelerating industry-education integration, the university has consistently remained in step with Shanghai's urban development, contributing its wisdom and strength to the construction of Shanghai as a City of Design and a Fashion Capital.
