President Xiang Yanxun Leads Inspection of First-Day Operations for New Semester

On March 2, the 2026 spring semester officially began at the university. To ensure the smooth operation of teaching and research activities in the new semester, President Xiang Yanxun led a team to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the first-day operations across various locations on the Songjiang Campus, including teaching buildings, laboratory facilities, and canteens. Deputy Party Secretary Li Chenglong, along with Vice Presidents Chen Ge, Yan Linping, and Zhang Qinghua, joined the inspection.



At the No. 1 Teaching Building, President Xiang Yanxun and his team inspected the first-day teaching conditions, inquired in detail about the course schedule for the semester, checked the operation of teaching equipment and on-site teaching order, and affirmed the preparatory work for the new semester. He pointed out that it is necessary to continuously strengthen teaching management, optimize the guarantee of teaching facilities, foster an excellent academic environment for both teaching and learning, and steadily improve the quality of talent cultivation, thereby laying a solid foundation for the university's high-quality development.



At Laboratory 111 of the Lightweight Building, President Xiang Yanxun and his team inspected the laboratory operations, gaining a detailed understanding of the commissioning and operation of experimental equipment, the management of consumables reserves, and the implementation of laboratory safety protocols. He emphasized the need to further revitalize laboratory resources, improve utilization efficiency, strictly adhere to laboratory safety protocols, and continuously enhance the capacity and level of laboratory services for teaching and research.



President Xiang Yanxun and his team also visited the second canteen on the Songjiang Campus and the construction site of the new student canteen to learn about the food service supply for the new semester and the project progress. He emphasized that food safety and dish quality must always be the top priority to effectively ensure the dietary health of faculty and students.

Relevant administrative departments and service units participated in the inspection. On the first day of the new semester, all teaching, research, and management activities were carried out in good order. This semester, the university offers 2,676 course sessions for undergraduate students and 472 course sessions for graduate students.
