Roadshow Held for Technology Transfer and Investment in Biomedical Field at Donghua University

On the afternoon of October 20, the Investment and Financing Roadshow for Biotechnology and Medical Achievements from Donghua University was successfully held at the Sunken Trading Center of the Songjiang District Workers' Cultural Palace. The event was jointly organized by the University's Academy of Science and Technology, the National University Science Park, along with the Songjiang District Federation of Trade Unions, the District Science and Technology Commission, and the Transformation Professional Committee of the Chinese Workers' Technical Association. The roadshow featured presentations from 11 project teams representing the university's colleges of biomedical science, textiles, materials, and other related disciplines. It brought together over 80 participants from biopharmaceutical companies, investment firms, and technology transfer agencies for in-depth exchanges.

Opening the event, Ms. Xu Qing, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Songjiang District Federation of Trade Unions, delivered a speech. She emphasized that the Songjiang University Town, serving as a core engine for regional innovation development, is fully advancing the construction of the ‘Science and Technology Innovation Source.’ She highlighted the biomedical industry as a key field in this initiative, underscoring its role as a critical breakthrough point for driving the region's economic transformation, upgrading, and achieving high-quality development. She further noted that this event has established an efficient platform for communication and collaboration among universities, research institutions, and enterprises. It is effectively facilitating the rapid translation and application of scientific and technological achievements in the biomedical field, attracting more high-quality resources to gather in Songjiang and infusing the ‘Science and Technology Innovation Source’ with a continuous stream of innovative vitality.

Ms. Wang Meng, Deputy Director of the Regional Cooperation Department at the Yangtze River Delta National Technology Innovation Center, outlined the center's support system for technology transfer and commercialization services, along with relevant policies such as ‘investing early, investing in small companies, and investing in hard technology’ through a combination of grants and investments. She noted that Songjiang District possesses robust innovation resources and industrial foundations in the biomedical field, and the Yangtze River Delta National Technology Innovation Center has consistently dedicated itself to promoting the transfer and commercialization of scientific and technological achievements across regions, building a cross-regional and cross-disciplinary innovation cooperation network. This roadshow serves as a vital bridge for deepening the integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation. It aims to further refine regional collaborative innovation mechanisms, empower the transformation of university scientific achievements, and enhance conversion efficiency.


Eleven faculty experts from the university represented their project teams at the roadshow, presenting cutting-edge biomedical projects. These included high-end implantable textile-based medical devices, mRNA nucleic acid therapeutics for geriatric diseases, and early & rapid screening kits for Alzheimer's disease. The presentations spanned multiple fields such as medical devices, biopharmaceuticals, and wound repair materials, all demonstrating significant innovation and market potential.

Representatives from enterprises and investment firms engaged in discussions focused on these advanced biomedical technologies. Meanwhile, hospital representatives provided practical insights from the clinical perspective, outlining specific requirements for clinical application and translation. This multi-party interaction served to precisely guide industrial and technological innovation, effectively promoting the efficient implementation of research outcomes.
