The General Manager of the Portuguese Textile and Clothing Technology Center and Chair of the Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Research Center Visited Donghua University

On August 25, Vice President Chen Ge met with António Braz Costa, General Manager of the Portuguese Technology Center for Textile and Clothing Industry (CITEVE) and President of the Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (CENTI), at the Songjiang Campus in Donghua University. Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation, the Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Office of the Academy of Science and Technology, and the College of Materials Science and Engineering attended the discussion.

Chen Ge noted that the university actively supports the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative, promotes educational openness, and has established collaborations with numerous global universities and organizations such as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. He emphasized that universities serve as vital platforms for talent cultivation and technological innovation, while the Portuguese Technology Center for Textile and Clothing Industry and the Center for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials are pivotal forces driving industrial technological breakthroughs and the commercialization of research outcomes. He expressed anticipation for future collaboration with both centers in areas such as joint talent development, co-research on cutting-edge topics, and sharing of technological achievements. This partnership aims to align the talent advantages of universities with the industrial resources of the centers, jointly injecting momentum and contributing strength to technological advancement and industrial upgrading in the textile, apparel, and advanced materials sectors.



Antonio Báez Costa affirmed Donghua University's global strategic positioning in international cooperation and its leading capabilities in textile disciplines, expressing strong willingness to collaborate with our university. He proposed establishing a collaborative framework centered on smart textiles and recycling, initiating cooperation through diverse channels such as joint academic research, researcher exchanges, and co-hosting specialized workshops and academic conferences. This partnership aims to jointly advance the development of cutting-edge technologies and facilitate their industrial implementation.

Following the meeting, Antonio Báez Costa was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled ‘The Impact of European Regulations on Circular and Sustainable Textiles in the Global Market’ at the College of Materials Science and Engineering.
