Principal Xiang YanXun and His Delegation Visited Austria, Germany, and Morocco to Promote Cooperation in Education and Technology.

From July 20 to 27, President Xiang Yanxun led a delegation on an official visit to Austria, Germany, and Morocco. During the visit, the delegation paid visits to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna, the Confucius Institute at Graz University of Technology in Austria, the University of Bayreuth in Germany, and the Moroccan Institute of Textile and Apparel Industry, among others. The delegation signed several cooperation agreements to further deepen international cooperation and exchange.

On July 21, Xiang Yanxun and his delegation visited Gunther Berger, Executive Officer of the Sustainable Development Goals Innovation and Economic Transformation Division of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna, Austria. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation and reached a strategic cooperation agreement on the green transformation of the global textile and apparel industry. The delegation also met with Shu Luomei, Director of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office and Institutional Partnerships Division of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and Xia Diya, Counselor of the Industrial Development Division of the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna. Xiang Yanxun stated that Donghua University will strengthen exchanges in its strengths disciplines, promote multilateral cooperation with international organizations and enterprises, and contribute to the green, intelligent, and high-end development of the textile industry.


On July 22, Xiang Yanxun and his delegation visited the Confucius Institute at Graz University of Technology in Austria, where they had in-depth discussions with Chinese and Austrian officials on the development of the Confucius Institute and Sino-European educational cooperation. Both sides expressed their intention to expand cooperation in areas such as industry-education integration, talent cultivation, and scientific research collaboration, with the aim of promoting the high-quality development of the Confucius Institutes at both universities.


On July 24, Xiang Yanxun and his delegation visited the University of Bayreuth in Germany and met with Vice Chancellor Nina Nestler. Xiang Yanxun expressed his hope to further strengthen cooperation and exchange in areas such as the synthesis of biodegradable materials and new energy technologies, as well as to conduct student exchange programs, dual degree projects, and expand the scope of Confucius Institute cooperation. Both sides jointly expressed their commitment to jointly creating research and education projects with global influence.

On July 26, Xiang Yanxun and his delegation visited the Moroccan Textile and Clothing Industry College and signed a framework agreement on inter-school cooperation. The two sides focused on key areas such as advanced textile manufacturing, sustainable production, and industrial intelligence, and conducted in-depth cooperation in areas such as course construction, practical training base construction, teacher exchanges, and scientific research cooperation, jointly cultivating high-quality technical talents with a global vision and local adaptability. Before the meeting, the delegation visited the laboratories of the Moroccan Textile and Clothing Industry College.

This visit focused on “educational cooperation, scientific and technological innovation, and sustainable development,” with Donghua University further expanding its global partnerships and cooperation dimensions. The university strengthened in-depth dialogue and substantive cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), leading European universities, and key African institutions, aiming to establish a ‘global partner network’ and an ‘international collaborative innovation system.’ In the future, the university will continue to uphold the principles of ‘openness, cooperation, and sharing,’ actively integrating into the global education governance system, promoting the cultivation of outstanding engineering talent, and establishing a high-level think tank and talent hub with international influence. It will contribute Donghua's wisdom and strength to advancing the global economic transition toward green development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
