A delegation from Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries visited DongHua University for research

On May 12, Su Lin, a member of the party group of Shanghai Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and vice president of Shanghai Friendship Association, accompanied by Xu Jie, director of Africa and Oceania Division, Chen Ge, vice president of the university, and Zhao Mingwei, director of International Cooperation Division, participated in the research activities.


Chen Ge introduced the basic situation of the university and the achievements of internationalization and cooperation with Africa, and put forward the outlook for the next stage of work. Su Lin introduced the background of the research and appreciated the achievements of Donghua University in international exchanges and social services. Both sides exchanged views on topics such as expanding international exchange channels, strengthening educational cooperation, and promoting humanistic exchanges between China and Africa, which clarified the direction of subsequent cooperation.


After the meeting, Su Lin and his delegation visited Shanghai Textile and Garment Museum.


It is reported that our university has trained more than 1,500 African students since 1954, and the alumni have become the bridge and link between their home countries and China. 2011, our university and Moi University in Kenya joined the ‘20+20 Cooperation Program of China-Africa Universities’, and in 2015, we set up the Confucius Institute featuring textile and clothing at Moi University, and since 2015, we have organized the China-Africa Textile and Clothing International Forum and China-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum every year. In 2015, the Confucius Institute featuring textiles and garments was established in Moi University, and the China-Africa Textile and Garment International Forum and China-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum have been held annually since 2015.2024, the university was included in the ‘China-Africa 100 Universities Cooperation Program’ and ‘China-Africa University Alliance’, and it has built the China-Africa Regional Center for Digital Education Cooperation with the Open University of China and Kenya Open University. In 2024, the university will be included in the “China-Africa 100 Universities Cooperation Plan” and “China-Africa University Alliance”, and will establish the China-Africa Regional Digital Education Cooperation Center with China Open University and Kenya Open University.
