On May 21st, the Opening Ceremony of the Fifth Overseas Chinese Cultural Festival and the Establishment Ceremony of Overseas Chinese Youth Association of New Overseas Chinese Union of Songjiang District and University City was held in our university. The conference was presided over by Wang Gang, vice chairman of Overseas Chinese Federation of the university, vice president of Overseas Chinese Youth Association of Songjiang District-University City New Overseas Chinese Union, and vice dean of college of Materials Science and Engineering.

Mr. Liu Chenggong congratulated on the opening of the Fifth Overseas Chinese Cultural Festival and the establishment of Overseas Chinese Youth Association of Songjiang District-University City New Overseas Chinese Union, and expressed his gratitude to the Overseas Chinese Federation of the City for its continuous support. He pointed out that this year's Overseas Chinese Cultural Festival, with the theme of ‘Overseas Chinese Gathering in Donghua and Creating the Future’, embodies the positive action and practice of the Overseas Chinese Association of the University in implementing the three-year action plan of deepening comprehensive reform of the university to serve the construction of a strong education country and promoting the development of education, science and technology talents as a whole. He emphasized that Donghua should adhere to the principle of ‘Strengthening the University with Talents’, promote the opening up of the university to the outside world, and construct a new high ground for attracting and gathering talents. We should adhere to the principle of ‘Serving the Nation with Science and Technology’, take the initiative in grasping the development trend and law of science and technology, promote the integration of industry and education, and integrate science and education, so as to climb a new peak of scientific and technological research. We also should adhere to the principle of ‘Cultivating the People with Culture’, and give full play to the advantages of the resources of the overseas Chinese community, so as to foster the new ecology of collaborative education.

Qi Quansheng fully affirmed that the Overseas Chinese Association of Donghua University, under the leadership and support of the Party Committee of Donghua University, has continued to strengthen the organization of the Overseas Chinese Association, create the brand of ‘Overseas Chinese Youth Cultural Festival’, and link the resources of Donghua University with those of the university, both inside and outside the university, so as to help overseas Chinese youths to grow up and the development of the university. He wished that the majority of overseas Chinese youth at Donghua University and the university city would bear in mind the wishes of General Secretary Xi Jinping, devote themselves to the construction of a strong country in education, science and technology, and talents, focus on the strategic needs of the country, give full play to their wisdom and talents, take advantage of the connectivity between China and foreign countries, and make outstanding contributions to accelerating the construction of a scientific and technological innovation highland with world influence.

At the meeting, the establishment ceremony of Overseas Chinese Youth Association of Songjiang District-University City New Overseas Chinese Union was held, and Zhu Dazhang, Li Chenglong, Chen Jie, the minister of Overseas Chinese Federation of Sea Union, Yao Heng, the president of Overseas Chinese Youth Association, and Wu Bin, the executive president of Overseas Chinese Youth Association, awarded the appointment certificates to the members of the team. Jiang Jinhua of Textile College, Wu Chunmao of Clothing College, You Zhengwei and Wang Gang of college of Material Science and Engineering and other four representatives of overseas Chinese youth around the ‘four oriented’ and combined with their respective research directions, respectively, the value of science and innovation achievements roadshow, focusing on the school of overseas Chinese young people's landmark innovative achievements.
It is reported that since the ‘Overseas Chinese Youth Cultural Festival’ was held in 2021, it has attracted more than 3,000 overseas Chinese youths to participate in it, which has not only become a ‘magnetic field of innovation’ for overseas Chinese youths to exchange ideas and collide with wisdom, but also a cultural bridge connecting the school and the local community, and integrating China and foreign countries. The timeline of this year's ‘Overseas Chinese Youth Cultural Festival’ runs throughout the year, and will be organized through the ‘Overseas Chinese Youth Forum’, ‘Overseas Chinese Youth Forum’, ‘Overseas Chinese Forum’, ‘Overseas Chinese Forum’, and ‘go out + bring in + go down’ service to the local economic and social development of a series of activities, such as returning young teachers to build a platform for exchanges and cooperation, in order to accelerate the school's ‘double first-class’ construction and the construction of Shanghai's ‘five centers’ to cohesion of the overseas Chinese community power.
