On March 31, the 10th Emerging Donghua made its debut on the platform of “THE NEXT New Force” graduation work release, growing together with the construction of Shanghai as the “Design Capital” and “Fashion Capital”. The 10th Emerging Donghua will be held again at the platform of “THE NEXT New Power” of Shanghai Fashion Week.
As an important part of Shanghai Fashion Week, 2025 Emerging Donghua is not only a graduation design show, but also a declaration of the future of fashion. 10 new designers from the School of Fashion and Art Design of Donghua University, using inspiration as the fuel and innovation as the canvas, sketched out the ideas and interpretations of the future of fashion from their own unique perspective. The theme of 2025 Emerging Donghua is “Freedom to Grow”, which is inspired by a keen understanding of the current era of change.
Some of the works focus on environmental protection and sustainable fashion, exploring the future path of green fashion through the transformation of old clothes, zero-waste design and digital virtual clothing assistive technology, contributing new ideas for the sustainable development of the industry. Some works boldly challenge the logic of clothing composition and generate unprecedented creative forms with the help of artificial intelligence, allowing technology and art to mingle and create amazing sparks. Some designers went deep into the field of material innovation and new technology, integrating cutting-edge technologies such as smart fibers and 3D printing into apparel design, giving the works a futuristic sense of vitality.
It is worth mentioning that there are many works that incorporate local culture and non-legacy elements into their designs, and the designers skillfully combine traditional craftsmanship with future technology, blending oriental aesthetics with global vision, presenting a refreshing fashion language.
