To promote the construction of Shanghai as a science and technology innovation hub, strengthen the incubation and construction of world-class science and technology journals, and establish an influential breeding ground for new academic ideas, new scientific discoveries, new technological inventions and new industrial directions in the world, the Conference on High-quality Development of Sci-tech Periodicals 2023 sponsored by Shanghai Association for Science and Technology was held. Academician Zhu Meifang, dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering and editor-in-chief of Advanced Fiber Materials was honored as one of the“Leading Scientific and Technological Figures of Shanghai from Science and Technology Journals” in 2023.

Academician Zhu Meifang has been engaged in research on the composite, functionalization, intelligence, and high-performance aspects of fiber materials for an extended period. She is one of the most influential academic leaders in the field of fiber materials research. In 2019, she founded and served as the editor-in-chief of Advanced Fiber Materials (English), which was selected for the New Journals with High Starting Point in China’s Action Plan for Excellence in Scientific and Technological Journals in 2021. The journal achieved its first SCI impact factor of 12.958 in 2022 and increased to 16.1 in 2023. Academician Zhu Meifang initiated and consistently organized the International Conference on Advanced Fiber and Polymer Materials for 11 sessions, making remarkable contribution to the integration of journal development, disciplinary construction, and academic exchange.
