Progress in Current-carrying Friction Made by Prof. Peng Yitian’s Research Team

2022-09-01

The research team headed by Prof. Peng Yitian at the College of Mechanical Engineering (ME) of DHU has made vital progress in current-carrying friction, and published two papers. The research was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM), Shanghai Sailing Program and DHU Distinguished Young Professor Program, etc..

The research result I was published in Nano Letters (IF: 12.262) entitled Role of Interfacial Water in the Tribological Behavior of Graphene in an Electric Field. The first author is Lang Haojie, a young teacher at the College of ME of DHU; the corresponding author is Prof. Peng Yitian; Donghua University is the only affiliation.

The research reveals the electric field effects on friction, which helps to meet the strong demand for regulating friction and tuning it intelligently in many industrial applications such as microdevices, robot arms and controlled drug release.

The research result II was published in npj 2D Materials and Applications (IF: 11.516) entitled Electronic Friction and Tuning on Atomically Thin MoS2. The first author is Shi Bin, a doctoral student at the College of ME of DHU; the corresponding author is Prof. Peng Yitian; Donghua University is the only affiliation.
