Climbing World Championship Goes to DHU Student Deng Lijuan

Deng Lijuan, a 2021 undergraduate student from the School of Management, took the women's Speed gold medal at 6.87 seconds at the recently concluded IFSC World Cup Villars 2022 in Switzerland. Deng is the first of our university to win a gold medal in a global climbing competition.

Deng Lijuan started climbing at the age of 15 and passed the selection process to become an athlete. Her passion for climbing drove Deng Lijuan to work hard, and her persistent efforts brought her closer and closer to her dream of becoming a world champion.


In recent years, she has won the women’s speed at the Asian Youth Championships, won a silver medal in the women's speed relay at the Asian Games, and won the women's speed at the National Climbing Championships. Deng said she was determined to climb to the top and fight for the glory of our country, and winning the competition was an affirmation of all her efforts.
